The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, Mykola Tochytskyi, held a meeting with the leadership of the University of Strasbourg—President Frédérique Berrod and Dean of the Faculty of Languages Thomas Mohnike.  

Frédérique Berrod noted that one of the university's priorities is the development and systematic deepening of cooperation with Ukrainian higher education institutions. This involves building sustainable institutional ties: establishing direct contacts between universities, fostering partnerships between experts in relevant fields, and launching joint educational and scientific projects.

An important dimension of this interaction will be academic mobility and knowledge exchange—in particular, involving Ukrainian lecturers and researchers in teaching, delivering lectures, and participating in research programs and inter-university initiatives. This will contribute both to the integration of the Ukrainian academic community into the European Higher Education Area and to deepening knowledge about Ukraine among European students and scholars.

Special attention during the meeting was devoted to the development of Ukrainian studies. It was highlighted that the University of Strasbourg has decided to join the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies—an initiative of First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska aimed at expanding the presence of Ukrainian studies in leading universities worldwide and fostering a sustained interest in Ukraine within the academic community.

The Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies is designed to serve as a platform for uniting universities, research centers, and experts, facilitating knowledge exchange, advancing joint programs, and supporting the teaching of the Ukrainian language, history, and culture abroad.

The university's Faculty of Languages is interested in giving practical substance to this cooperation, particularly through the development of language programs, the expansion of courses related to Ukraine, and the integration of Ukrainian topics into the faculty's educational and research initiatives.

These agreements pave the way for a systematic presence of Ukrainian studies in Strasbourg and their further development within the European academic space, strengthening intellectual and cultural ties while establishing Ukraine as an integral part of the shared European educational and scientific environment.
