The Gender Equality Commission (GEC) met in Strasbourg from 18 to 20 November 2015. Sergiy Kyslytsya was re-elected for a second mandate as Chairperson of the GEC. Kira Appel was also re-elected for a second mandate as Vice-Chairperson. The GEC reviewed progress on the implementation of the CoE Gender Equality Strategy 2014-2017 and agreed on the follow-up activities after the Conference of National Focal Points on Gender Equality: “Towards guaranteeing equal access of women to justice” (Bern, 15-16 October 2015). The GEC accepted gratefully the invitation of the Estonian authorities to host a conference in Tallinn on 30 June-1 July 2016, to take stock of progress made in the implementation of the Council of Europe Gender Equality Strategy 2014-2017 and discuss possible themes for the next Strategy. The conference will be held during Estonia’s chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (May-November 2016).
