On 2 March 2014 Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine A. Deshchytsia discussed with Secretary General of CoE T.Jagland the current internal political situation in Ukraine.
The two Sides discussed recent developments in Ukraine, focusing on the the internal situation in the Crimean peninsula. Andrii Deshchytsia made his counterpart familiar with the steps of Ukraine’s leadership in order to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty, its territorial integrity and inviolability of its borders.
Acting Minister drew the attention of the Secretary-General to the decisions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which were adopted by Ukrainian parliament on 2 March - the Resolution "On the Declaration of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine", which emphasizes that "Ukraine guarantees protection of the basic rights and freedoms of all citizens residing on the territory of Ukraine, including the right to free use of language, freedom of conscience and worldview" and the Resolution " On the address of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the parliaments of guarantor-states of Ukraine’s security and international organizations "
